001 // WHERE DOOR ORDERS BREAK

The door is half the order. The hardware is the other half.

Track length, species, finish, glass, sizes in fractions. Here is where door orders go wrong today, and what changes when your rules drive the form.

01 · TODAY

Track length and hardware

A barn door needs a track at least twice its width, hangers rated for its weight, and hardware that matches. Dealers order the door and forget the kit.

IN PAINLESS

Track, hangers, soft-close, and floor guide are part of the configuration. A track too short for the door is flagged at the field, and the work order kits the hardware with the door.

Species × style × finish

Knotty alder, white oak, primed MDF. Not every finish goes on every material, and paint-grade doors still get ordered in stain.

IN PAINLESS

Guided rules disable the combinations you don't build and say why, like "Primed MDF takes paint only." A door you can't build never reaches the shop.

Sizes in fractions

Rough openings, slab sizes, and finished sizes arrive by phone, in fractions. One transposed number and the door gets remade.

IN PAINLESS

Dealers enter sizes in 16ths with your min and max for each style, like "Maximum height is 108″." What the dealer enters is what the cut list shows.

Glass lites

A glass lite means a glass order, a glazing step, and a different price. Somebody has to remember all three.

IN PAINLESS

A glass style adds the tempered lite to the bill of materials, a glazing step to the work order, and its upcharge to the price, all sized from the door.

Dealer price books

Width × height sheets in one PDF, species upcharges in another, and a different discount for every dealer.

IN PAINLESS

Price grids are real tables with round-up lookups. Species, styles, and finishes are % or $ upcharges, and dealer discounts carry date windows and never stack. Dealers see their price as they configure.

Crating and delivery

Doors ship crated with their hardware, on your truck or from the dock. A missing hanger means a second trip.

IN PAINLESS

Every door's hardware kit is on its work order and label. Ship dates snap to the next delivery-route day, or the dealer picks Pick Up and sees your dock address and map.

002 // FROM ORDER TO SHOP FLOOR

A sliding barn door, station by station.

When an order goes In Process, every door gets a work order with its cut list, materials, hardware kit, and routing. The route comes from the product definition, so a glass-lite door picks up its glazing step and a solid door skips it.

003 // QUESTIONS

What door manufacturers ask us.

Can dealers configure a barn door and its hardware together?

Yes. The door, track, hangers, and soft-close dampers are one configuration. Track length is checked against the door width, hardware finish is a swatch with its own upcharge, and the work order kits the hardware with the door.

Do you handle interior, pocket, and closet doors too?

Yes. Every product has its own form, price grid, materials, and routing, so barn doors, interior doors, pocket door kits, bifold closet doors, and shower doors run side by side in one account and one dealer portal.

Can we price by width, height, and species?

Yes. Price grids take any two dimensions, like width × height, and round up or match exactly. Species, style, and finish add % or $ upcharges from your collections, and dealer discounts apply on top without stacking.

What about glass lites and tempered glass?

A glass style adds its tempered lite to the bill of materials and a glazing step to the work order, both sized from the door. Styles a material can't take are disabled with the reason shown.

Do we have to replace QuickBooks?

No. Painless pushes invoices and payments to QuickBooks Online automatically or on demand, and the Everything plan can also push bills, inventory, and journals. Invoices with sales tax or an applied deposit are entered in QuickBooks by hand for now. Or run the built-in general ledger instead.
